Touted as Korea’s best gourmet fried chicken, Pelicana Chicken has now called Atria Mall one of its homes in Malaysia among its 2000 outlets spanning in Korean and worldwide which includes New York, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing too. Anyeonghaseyo!

Diners are assured only premium chicken is used in the preparation of the great feast, spiced up with the various inhouse special recipes of sauces and gravies to titillate your senses pleasurably. The juicily fried chickens are conveniently consumed as they are served in wingette and drumette size. Without further ado, let’s kick start the session!

We are introduced to the Peli Yang Nyeom Chicken series, which enthralls the visual with its bright and red glaze that is available in different spiciness level. Fret not as they do cater for the faint tougue folks (like me ^^) with the other milder selections which are equally promising too.

ORIGINAL

Crispy chicken that has been deep fried and yet not too greasy, basted with the signature Yang Nyeom sauce. Garnished with parsley for some added aroma.

CHARCOAL BBQ (LETTUCE ON TOP)

Up a level mildly from the original series, this variety greets your palate with a heavier taste in sauce, balanced up by the crisp lettuce.

HOT SPICE

For spicy food lovers, this would definitely appealing most to you and could get you hooked on for more! Each bite is robust with the herbs of Yang Nyeom marinade and be caution that the hotness actually catches up shortly after that. So, for those who have lower tolerance of SHU, suggested you go easy on this (=

SPRING ONION

And amongst all, this would have to be my fave pick! Each piece of chicken is tender from inside out, decadently enclosed within a crunchy exterior that boasts for more addiction. I like this series better as it was lightly smothered with the gravy and hence, allows me to enjoy more “crunch” sensation in every chomps.

And right now, there has been another new flavour in addition to the currently available ones, which is Garlic Pelicana. Lots of garlicky tang awaiting you! Helpful staff of Pelicana Chicken are seen helping us brushing the fried pieces thoroughly for that impeccable enjoyment later.

PELICANA GARLIC YANG NYEOM

As the usual Asian cliché, rice also also available should you prefer to have it along with you bowl of rice. By the way, this rice with special recipe from Pelicana is undeniably good.

KOREAN FRAGRANT RICE (MYR 4.50)

Fragrant rice is agreeably toothsome, as it comes flavourfully with the seaweed as well as the aroma from the black sesame. They all make a hearty and nourishing combo as a whole.

Having said that, noodles as well as salad are also available for those seeking for lighter grubs.

PELICANA KOREAN RAMEN (MYR 13.90)

You can’t go wrong with the springy noodles that are cooked in special light cheesy paste, rendering seom aromatic milky flavor, paired with the uber juicy fried chicken fillets!

PURE CHICKEN BREAST SALAD (MYR 12.90)

Yellow sauce is pretty special as it resembles those melted cheddar cheese dressing we usually see elsewhere but this is created using Pelicana’s own recipe and is specially brought in from Korea itself.

Soon, time for some beverages to actually cool off the meaty feast for a more satisfying moment.

They are indeed a tight rival to Kyochon, with its decently large menu that also offers burgers and rice sets. Flip through the recipes slowly the next time you drop by before deciding on which fried chicken series that appealing most to you.
