COCO STEAMBOAT CHERAS @ TAYNTON VIEW

Tucked away somewhat further but not very far from city centre is the where Cheras folks been tantalizing their taste buds with homey warm feast at Coco Steamboat Cheras, which is located within the neighbourhood of Taynton View, Cheras.

It welcomes guests to an airy environment with casual vibes, perfect for reunion over sumptuous Oriental repast- Steamboat!
Well known for its toothsome bone broth, this humble establishment has recently just introduced another new delight to its existing selection- Coco Steamboat Sauna Set Menu!

Sauna?
Yes, and as you may guess, the cooking is slightly not so conventional, added with some twist but equally delicious. All steamboat ingredients are firstly steamed (since it’s sauna-themed) atop layers of crisp and sweet cabbages, without direct contact with boiling water yet, and then towards the end, diners would get to enjoy the soup located at the bottom where all the ingredients essence flow from the top cabbage layer, condensed from the healthy steaming process. The soup is indeed, very soothingly sweet.

For this Coco Steamboat Sauna Set Menu, customers have 3 options to choose from, depending on the number of pax that are dining.
Set A MYR 168.80 nett (4pax)
Set B at MYR 312.30 nett (6 pax)
Set C at MYR 598.80 nett (10 pax)
We tried out the Set C since we are coming in a bigger group.

Shun De Fish Curd

As hinted earlier, crunchy and refreshing cabbage as the base.
Then we started off with the juicy, huge prawns, followed by King Grouper Fish, Garlic Paste Scotland Razor Clams, Kampung Chicken (free ranch chicnken), XLCrab and the rest,

Some light snacks in between serve to be good companions too. I personally really enjoy the Shun De Fish Curd that is made of egg and mackerel paste, sealed within soya skin. It’s really toothsome, whether you enjoy as it is or steamed it together with the homemade meatballs, they are both similarly inviting with its respective flavours.

Mushroom fish balls, Prawn fish balls and Squid fish balls, all freshly homemade and bouncily beckoning.

Some sauce for dipping of course!

A jug of home-boiled cooling drink to clear the throat.
WINTER MELON LONGAN (LUO HAN GUO) MYR 9.50
Or some personal booze for toasting should you are celebrating some special occasions. Am sure the owner wouldn’t mind that so long everyone drinks responsibly, hehe.
The inventive tweak of Steamboat Sauna seems rather interesting unlike the usual ubiquitous steamboat where you literally dump all the food assortment into the pot of boiling soup at one go, rendering a tad mundane enjoyment. Besides that, this way of slow-cooking allows you to slowly and truly savour the food, ensuring optimum enjoyment. Ideal for family occasion any gathering with friends alike. So do remember to check it out whenever you are in the vicinity.
